dog

The best dog food we’ve ever tried.

An extremely fussy puppy who licks her bowl clean after every meal…and has done for the last few months we’ve been using Marleybones. All other food she’d stop eating after 2-3 weeks. Super easy to order and delivery is on time every month. Very very happy owners and puppy!

The best. No competition.

Excellent service and a company which clearly cares about its environmental impact. The QR codes on the side of each pack let you trace where each ingredient in that specific box was sourced and processed – full accountability. This is how companies should operate. The product is the best (healthiest and tastiest for my puppy) I’ve found. Would highly recommend not settling for anything else.

Great quality food that is sustainable.

Great quality food that is sustainable and you can track exactly where everything came from. My puppy loves this food and I love knowing he is being fed a good quality, complete food that isn’t full of rubbish like other brands. It is also extremely convenient that it doesn’t need to be stored in the fridge/freezer until it has been opened.

Salmon

Our Scottish salmon is hand-reared and naturally grown, using no growth promoters or chemical supplements. Using only organic feed means the salmon used in our recipe is beautifully coloured and flaky with a succulent flavour. This provides our meals with all essential vitamins and omega-3s to maintain a shiny fur. Hello glossy coat season!

Quinoa

This gluten-free superfood, often mistaken for a grain, is actually a seed. A seed that is nutrient-dense, high in fibre, packed full of essential amino acids and a great source of energy for our dogs. We even found a family-owned business that grows it right here in the UK!

Carrots

A root vegetable as rich in antioxidants and beneficial phytonutrients as it is in colour. As well as a great source of gut-friendly fibre, they contain beta-carotene, a powerful compound that is beneficial to cellular health, especially the cells found in the eyes!

testimonial dog

Garden peas

Peas are very low in calories whilst packing quite the nutrient punch. They contain just about every nutrient and vitamin you can think of, as well as being beneficial for digestive health.

Chia seeds

Although chia seeds are an excellent source of protein, our high meat content does all of that for us so we have included this superfood for other reasons. Offering an impressive nutrient profile, they also supply essential omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids!

Hemp seeds

The hemp seed is a nutrient powerhouse. They contain essential omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E and an abundance of minerals. The fats found in hemp seeds have been shown to support a healthy coat and skin whilst the fibre in the outer shell helps improve digestion.

Linseeds

Linseeds help us achieve the perfect omega-3:6 ratio in all of our meals. They help promote a glossy coat, better skin, healthier brains, a strong heart, pain-free joints and reduced inflammation.

Wild seaweed

Our wild Scottish seaweed is one of the most nutrient-dense ingredients you can get your hands on. It is the best dietary source of iodine that nature has to offer. This is an essential nutrient that helps keep your dog’s thyroid healthy which is entirely responsible for a normal metabolism.

Chicory root

The root of the chicory plant is unique in its fibre composition. It is 68% inulin by weight which is an amazing prebiotic fibre. It is actually used by the ‘’good bacteria’’ in the gut as fuel so food is optimally digested; allowing for maximum nutrient absorption.

testimonial dog

Yucca

Yucca root extract is usually used in pet foods to reduce faecal odour, which it does a great job of. However, yucca also has antioxidant benefits and is a natural anti-inflammatory. It can help with digestion and has also shown some promising effects for dogs with arthritis.

Water

We add water to our recipes to cook them effectively in pack! This guarantees maximum nutrient absorption, palatability and food safety for your best friends! Not only that, the moisture ensures optimal digestion and urinary function.

FAQ

How is your salmon raised?

Our Scottish salmon comes from a hand-rearing and all-natural health-controlled environment. They grow up at very low stocking densities (99% water, 1% fish) to ensure a happy, healthy growth without the use of antibiotics, growth promotors or GMO. Our salmon also have one of the world’s best FIFO (fish in, fish out) ratios, of less than 1:1, greatly reducing dependency on wild fish. This is achieved by only feeding fishmeal produced from trimmings of wild fish destined for human consumption.

Are there any health benefits from using hand-reared salmon?

The large amounts of omega-3 fats, especially EPA, found in this recipe helps reduce inflammation in the body. This supports joints throughout their life and especially after a heavy day of exercise. As well as this, the essential fats help promote a shinier coat and better skin health. Omega 3 fats are also major building blocks in the brain and are critical in maintaining normal function in this important organ. They are especially important for growing puppies, ensuring proper neural development.

How is the food cooked?

We get in all our ingredients farm fresh and fill them raw into the cartons, seal the cartons and then we steam cook the entire carton from the outside. Steam cooking is one of the gentlest cooking methods, as it keeps all the natural moisture, vitamins and minerals coming from the fresh produce within the meals, locking in all the freshness, flavour and nutrients! Not only that, the moisture ensures optimal digestion and urinary function.

Do I need to freeze the food?

One of the benefits of Marleybones meals, is that you don’t need to clear your freezer for ice-cream and just need to store them in a cool, dry place. As a bonus, they take up much less space than the traditional and is easy to stack and store.

Is Marleybones grain-free?

Yes – all our meals are grain-free! Many believe quinoa is a grain, but it is in fact a seed that is harvested from a tall, leafy plant. Quinoa is actually more of a relative to spinach or beets. Because they are cooked like a grain, they seem to get lumped into the same grain category.

Is Marleybones hypoallergenic?

We are certain most dogs will thrive with Marleybones dog dining. Our recipes are easy to digest and great with sensitive tummies. We’ve made sure not to include known allergens like cereals (wheat, barley, oats and maize) and vegetable protein (pea protein, maize/wheat gluten and soya). Instead we use unprocessed, human-grade ingredients in all our single-source protein meals. If your dog should be allergic to any type of meat or fish, you will be able to exclude the variant from your dining box.
